Dabney & Co. is seeking a skilled, reliable, and service-oriented Cook to join our team. This is a hybrid role that combines back-of-house culinary responsibilities with front-of-house guest service, allowing for cross-training as a server. The ideal candidate takes pride in crafting elevated soul food, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is committed to delivering an exceptional guest experience—whether in the kitchen or on the dining room floor. Weekend availability is required, with occasional service shifts during peak times.

Key Responsibilities:
Culinary (Primary Role)

Prepare all menu items according to Dabney & Co.’s elevated soul food recipes and presentation standards

Maintain consistent food quality, taste, and appearance

Follow food safety protocols including proper storage, labeling, and sanitation
-
Ensure workstations and kitchen equipment are clean and well-maintained
-
Contribute to inventory management by assisting in ordering and receiving ingredients

Prep ingredients in advance of service to ensure efficiency and consistency
-
Participate in kitchen opening and closing duties as scheduled
Guest Service (Cross-Training Component)

Provide attentive, informed, and welcoming service during server shifts

Take and enter guest orders accurately, with attention to special dietary or cultural considerations

Serve food and beverages with efficiency and professionalism

Handle guest inquiries and resolve concerns with a positive, solution-oriented approach

Process payments accurately using the POS system

Communicate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during high-volume periods
Required Skills and Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience in a kitchen or food preparation role

Previous customer service experience, ideally in a restaurant or hospitality setting
-
Familiarity with food safety practices and ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain)

Ability to lift 40 pounds and stand for extended periods

Effective communication skills and team-oriented mindset

Strong multitasking and time management abilities

Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Reliable transportation to and from Dabney & Co.
