Meet the Artist
Jormilit Garcia is a standout vocalist currently enrolled in the esteemed Jazz Studies program at Western Michigan University’s Irving S. Gilmore School of Music. Her range of experience is remarkable—she's performed across the country with the Jason Max Ferdinand Singers, including at Lincoln Center and The Kennedy Center, where she backed none other than Jacob Collier.
Back home in Miami, Jormilit sang backgrounds for musical legends like The Wailers, Shakira, Gloria Estefan, and Pedro Capó. Now in Kalamazoo, she shines as a member of Gold Company under Greg Jasperse, recently representing WMU at the Jazz Education Network Conference in New Orleans. Her deep pride in her Venezuelan heritage shines through in her passionate renditions of Latin classics and rhythms, blended seamlessly with jazz vocals and modern grooves.
